I see fashion as a means of communication making it an integral part in society today. Like all other technologies its progress is infinite. What fuels its continuous evolution is the creativity and individuality of the people within the industry in which I dream to be a part of. The work that I have displayed shows my ability to experiment and apply my creativity in different ways from working from a design brief to create a successful evening gown inspired by drapery to experimenting with different media by introducing natural resources into textiles, such as the use of flower petals in appliqué. My fashion illustrations show that I am well practiced with using Photoshop and my paintings show how I have grounded talent in art. I think your program could fully enrich my desire to become a fashion designer by allowing me to bring innovative and original concepts to my designs. The excitement and opportunity I will experience from participating in live projects will fuel my commitment to your course, allowing me to develop as an individual and thus permitting me to specialize and succeed in my chosen path.

A painting from my A2 art project

This is a painting I have done from working from a childhood photograph of myself. It is part of my A2 coursework which I am currently carryout. I plan to add to this painting by stitching elaborate hair clips onto the hair. I will be using the same technique that you will see on my work lower down.

Fashion Illustration

I created this illustration ffrom tracing a magazine imaging, scanning the drawing and then manipulating it using Adobe Photoshop. I experimented with colour and introduced paint splashes and coffee rings to the image using the brush tool.

Fashion Illustration featuring knitting in a summer dress

As part of my A2 course I am experimenting with the use of knitting in a summer collection. Below is one of my designs featuring knitting with a silhouette inspired by Chanel S/S 2010 collection.
